What Is The Point Of All This?

In a nutshell, here’s why I’m starting this blog:

Last October, my daughter and I went to visit my parents.  I figured it would be the last time I’d see my dad lucid.  He (and my mom right beside him all the way) had been fighting one form of cancer or another for the past 15 years.

One night right before this trip to visit my mom and dad, I was fretting about how to say goodbye to Dad when I went to visit him.  Do I give a quick hug and leave? Do I hug forever? What profound things could I say that would have any lasting meaning?  I got up in the middle of the night (October 6!) and wrote Dad a letter.  When I went back to bed, I felt better, but I also was hit with a clear, powerful inspiration (because to say it was God or The Universe telling me this sounds pretty outrageous) that suggested I capture other similar letters from children to their parents and publish them in a book.  I’m hoping this book will bring comfort to those who read it.  Part of my inspiration was the name of the book  (you guessed it).   Last Goodbyes:  Uplifting Letters From Children To Their Parents.

I have no idea how to get this done, but I’m starting this blog to ask people around the world to contribute their letters.  They can be e-mailed to me at:

letters@lastgoodbyeletters.com

I’m going to have to put up a waiver form or something so people can give me permission to publish, edit, etc. their letters.  If you e-mail a letter, be sure to include all your contact information so WHEN this happens I can get your official permission!

Thank you!
