Goodbye To The America I Thought I Knew
This letter came in from a young adult–a couple of cuss words have been edited out. Although this website is not a political platform for any messages, this particular letter is compelling because while it is not apparent on which side of the political spectrum the writer stands, it echoes the sentiments of all of us who want to live in a better, brighter America.
“Dear America. You’re a mess. My friends are deleting posts cuz they’re scared of saying the wrong thing. My parents argue nonstop about politics. My parents always said you would get better but it’s looking worse every day. I’m sick of it. Pick a topic and it’s a fight. I’m burned out on guns, lies, borders, rights, vaccines, politics, whatever. IDK what’s going on with you anymore. Everyday it’s some new fight and I just feel paralyzed like nothing I do matters. I guess I can vote at least. But who knows if that’s even real anymore? What will the future be? I am afraid to find out. Fix yourself, America, I’m sick of dealing with you messing up my future.”
